From Dr. Kneitel:
I am looking for student volunteers that are interested in environmental education, ecology, conservation, and restoration, or all of the above on projects at the Earl J. Koobs Nature Area in Carmichael. This nature area was established in 1971 and is associated with the San Juan School District; it contains ponds, open grassy areas, and native trees. There are many opportunities to work on environmental education projects, restoration, maintenance of the nature area, and horticulture of native species. Please contact Dr. Kneitel (email@example.com) with interest or questions.
From Dr. Kneitel:
The Field Biology Group was invited to the talk put on by the Asian Culture Club.
Dr. Della Grace Bacaltos, who holds a Ph.D. in Marine Science, will be giving a speech about the importance of protecting and managing the major fishing grounds at Davo Gulf, Philippians.
The event is free and open to the public. I think this would be a great learning experience for the Field Biology group. Please come, if interested! Also, there will be finger foods served at this event.

Hope everyone had a good first week back at school. Field Biology Group’s first meeting of the Spring semester will be February 14th at 5:00 PM. We’re not sure yet if we will be in the usual Humboldt Room 124 as there may be a class using it at that time but the meeting will be in Humboldt Hall. Stop by Humboldt 124 and if we are in a different room it will be posted on the door. Look forward to seeing everyone there!
Do you want to go on the FBG camping trip? You need to come to the mandatory meeting on October 25th at 5pm in Humboldt 124. We will be discussing trip details as well as what equipment you’ll need. It’s going to be an awesome trip so come to the meeting so you can go!
FBG has voted and a new t-shirt will be printed for this semester. Design #1 won and can be seen here: Design #1
T-shirts are $15. Please let us know your size and how many you want. You can give your payment to anyone on the FBG board or bring it to our next meeting on October 25th at 5pm in Humboldt 124.
