From Dr. Kneitel:
I am looking for student volunteers that are interested in environmental education, ecology, conservation, and restoration, or all of the above on projects at the Earl J. Koobs Nature Area in Carmichael. This nature area was established in 1971 and is associated with the San Juan School District; it contains ponds, open grassy areas, and native trees. There are many opportunities to work on environmental education projects, restoration, maintenance of the nature area, and horticulture of native species. Please contact Dr. Kneitel ( with interest or questions.

Our gulf our life

The Field Biology Group was invited to the talk put on by the Asian Culture Club.

Dr. Della Grace Bacaltos, who holds a Ph.D. in Marine Science, will be giving a speech about the importance of protecting and managing the major fishing grounds at Davo Gulf, Philippians.

The event is free and open to the public. I think this would be a great learning experience for the Field Biology group. Please come, if interested! Also, there will be finger foods served at this event.
